Caravan reviews - Bailey Ranger 460/4

bailey ranger caravan interior

With a reasonable price of #10,250 this 4 berth van offers good value. 6.24m long by 2.19m wide with a MTPLM of 1184kg and a full 3 years parts warranty and the standard 6 years on the bodywork.

This is a rig aimed at customers seeking good value rather than luxury, never the less this is a functional van and ideal as a first caravan.

Using the AL-KO chassis the set up and pitching will be familiar to experienced caravanners, waste and water points are easily accessible and the electric hook up plugs in to a locker at the main door.

The washroom is small, as you often find on these small caravans compromises have to be made somewhere, there is a swivel cassette thetford toilet with a seperate shower head and tray but very little room to move around. The basin is situated outside the washroom near the fixed bed with a storage cuphoard underneath for toiletries etc.

Kitchen is well equipeed for a budget caravan and cooking for 2-4 people is no problem with seperate oven and grill, 4 burner hob and thetford fridge, the only thing missing is a microwave but many use their own anyway. There is a reasonable amount of worksurfaces and a flush fitting chopping board over sink along with good storage including wire vegetable trays.

Lounge is comfortable and easily seats 4, for total comfort however we recommend you buy extra cushions, nicely lit with a combination of rooflights, spotlights and a corner lamp, the only things missing were fitted TV and stereo. An integrated flat screen, digital tuner and mp3 player would be a useful accessory to purchase!

The main bed in the caravan is a fixed bed at the rear, this is very comfortable even for 6 footers and

comes with fitted headboards and spotlights for reading. The two sofas in the front lounge convert into a double bed using wooden slats providing a spacious double perfect for the kids.

Good storage throughout the caravan lockers in the lounge and over fixed bed and space below both sofas under the bases, under the fixed bed there is a huge storage space and the matress lifts on gas struts making this useful space easily accessible.

The Bailey ranger series of caravans has always been popular and will be easy to trade in should you ever wish to upgrade, make no mistake though, this could be all the caravan you ever need for just 10 grand!
