Finding cheap static caravan insurance insurance is slightly different when compared to finding traditional policies to cover car or home and not all traditional brand name insurers will offer this type of cover, frequently the mainstream insurance companies that do offer cover for static caravans are not the cheapest as they do not specialise in this type of risk. Most specialist iinsurers that are in in the caravan and mobile home marketplace will offer cover for static and touring caravans as well as motorhome policies, but the acope of this article is for finding cheap static caravan insurance only.
Static caravans have different risks than touring caravans, for instance with static caravans there is little risk of road accidents as they are semi permanent fixtures on caravan sites connected up to services, if they do have to be moved by road to a new site then this would be done by commercial vehicles and any accidents would be covered by the insurance policy of the haulage company. However static caravans are at risk to all the same problems permanent homes can face, i.e. flooding, loss of keys, theft, fire etc.
Static caravans tend to be in use a lot more than tourers also, for most of the year touring caravans are not in use and generally parked up at owners property where the only real risk is theft, whereas static caravans are on site and in use most of the year and therefore are exposed to more risk (at least in the eyes of the insurance companies!)
Although getting cheap static caravan insurance is obviously a good idea remember that not all insurance cover can be compared on price alone, each policy needs to be compared like for like, for instance check if your caravan policy covers on a “new for old basis”, and if so how many years back will it cover( for example some policies will exchange new for old in case of damageanything up to 3 years old whereas some insurers will do this on items up to 5 years old), how much does the policy cover for alternative accommodation in the event your caravan is unusable? Do they cover for loss of keys or damage to locks? What about freezer food? What is the maximum personal accident ot public liability claim?
As you can see there is a lot more to caravan insurance than just price, howevermany of the specialist insurers are in direct competition with each other so offer much the same level of cover so as long as you stick to one of these insurers it is quite easy to compare like for like and get a good cheap static caravan insurance quotation.
