Satellite tv caravans

Whether you like it or not, TV is going digital so if you want to carry on watching TV on caravan holidays you will have to upgrade your equipment! The old 12 volt caravan tvs with an aerial hanging out the window are history! Of course, you can use a freeview digital box with a large conventional aerial, however most caravan parks are located in secluded beauty spots well away from civilization, which means they are often well away from Tv transmitters also! So if you want the best chance of getting decent digital TV reception, the most popular option is Sky TV, like them or loath them, Sky have the best channels and obviously it does not matter how far you are from local TV mast. In addition if you travel abroad with your caravan the digital signal covers the whole of Europe, so you can still catch up with the latest ploys in Eastenders while touring Italy or Spain!

Dont be put off by thinking you will have to pay an expensive monthly subscription – you dont have to pay anything! there are over 40 free channels including all the “normal” ones such as BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Five etc. All you need is the recieving equipment i.e. a satellite dish and a “set top box”. You can pick up everything you need (including a tripod for mounting) for less than £200. Satellite dishes mounted to caravan (either fixed or motorised) are more expensive, but also more convenient!
